Best eSIM for Greece, Turkey and Cyprus (2026)

Island-hopping in this corner of the Mediterranean usually means a lot of border crossings in a short time. You start in Kos, take the morning boat to Bodrum, drive down to Marmaris, then fly to Larnaca a week later. Swapping SIM cards at each stop is a pain, and buying three separate eSIMs is not much better. So here is how we would cover the whole route with one plan.

Why one plan for this route

The Europe 34 countries plan on GoSIM covers Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. It also covers most of the rest of Europe. That means one install, one balance, and no fiddling when the ferry docks in a different country.

One note on Cyprus: the plan covers the Republic of Cyprus. The country list doesn't mention Northern Cyprus, so don't count on coverage there.

It also helps if your trip goes beyond these three. Add Italy at the start or Croatia at the end and you are still covered by the same eSIM.

Plans and prices

These are the 30-day plans on the page right now, in EUR:

DataValidityPrice
1 GB30 days€3.99
3 GB30 days€6.99
5 GB30 days€10.99
10 GB30 days€16.99
20 GB30 days€26.99
50 GB30 days€53.99

Which size fits your trip

 • Long weekend, light use (1-3 GB): maps, messages and a few photos. 3 GB at €6.99 is enough if you stay on hotel Wi-Fi for the heavy stuff.
 • One to two weeks (5 GB): this is where most island-hoppers land. Navigation, ferry tickets, restaurant lookups, photo backups now and then. 5 GB at €10.99 covers it without watching the counter.
 • Two to three weeks, or a lot of video (10 GB): if you stream, video call home or work from beaches, 10 GB at €16.99 is the safer choice. Running out on a ferry with no Wi-Fi is annoying.
 • Remote work or a month away (20-50 GB): the bigger plans exist, but most holiday trips never need them.

Our honest suggestion: for 1-3 weeks, pick 5 GB or 10 GB. The price gap is small, and you won't spend your holiday rationing data.

When separate country plans are cheaper

We looked at the single-country pages too. Turkey's 30-day plans are 3 GB at €2.99, 5 GB at €4.99 and 10 GB at €5.99. Greece's are 3 GB at €3.99, 5 GB at €4.99 and 10 GB at €7.99.

Do the math for a Greece plus Turkey trip: two 5 GB plans come to €9.98, against €10.99 for the regional 5 GB. Two 10 GB plans come to €13.98, against €16.99. So if you only visit those two countries, separate plans are a bit cheaper. The catch is that you install two eSIMs, split your data between them, and have to switch the active line when you cross.

The regional plan wins when you:

 • add Cyprus, or any other European country, to the route
 • want one data balance you can use anywhere on the trip
 • don't want to guess in advance how much data you'll use in each country

If your route is just Athens and a few islands, the Greece plan alone is the simple answer.

Crossing by ferry

This part is easy. When your boat leaves Greek waters, your phone drops the Greek network and picks up a Turkish one in Bodrum, Kusadasi or Marmaris. The eSIM does this on its own. Keep data roaming turned on for the eSIM line, and that's it.

A few practical things:

 • Out at sea, signal can come and go. Download your ferry ticket and offline maps before you board.
 • Near the border, your phone sometimes grabs the neighboring country's network a bit early. That's normal, and it is covered anyway.
 • If you see no signal after landing, toggle airplane mode on and off. That fixes it most of the time.
 • Turn off data roaming on your home SIM line, or set the eSIM as your data line, so you don't pay roaming charges from your home carrier.

Setup before you leave

 1. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked.
 2. Buy the plan and install it at home on Wi-Fi. You get a QR code and installation steps by email.
 3. Install it before you travel. You don't need to activate anything until you land.
 4. Label the eSIM line something clear, like "Greece Turkey Cyprus".
 5. When you arrive, set the eSIM as your mobile data line and switch on data roaming for it.
 6. Keep your home SIM active for calls and texts if you want to receive them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Northern Cyprus covered?
The plan covers the Republic of Cyprus.
Do I need to change anything when the ferry crosses into Turkey?
No. The eSIM connects to a local network on its own. Just keep data roaming on.
Can I use it for calls?
These are data-only eSIMs. You can use WhatsApp, FaceTime and other apps for calls and messages over data.
What if I run out of data?
Top-ups are available, so you can add more data instead of buying a new eSIM.
When does the validity start?
The 30 days start when the eSIM first connects to a network in a covered country, so you can install it at home a few days before you fly.
