Best eSIM for Mexico (2026)
Oct. 18, 2026
For a normal one-week trip to Mexico, the 3 GB plan for 30 days at $7.99 is the one we'd pick. If you want to stop thinking about data, an unlimited daily plan starts at $2.99 a day. Everything below is on our Mexico page, and all prices are in USD.
The plans at a glance
| Data | Validity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 500 MB | 7 days | $2.99 |
| 1 GB | 7 days | $3.99 |
| 3 GB | 30 days | $7.99 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | $12.99 |
| 10 GB | 30 days | $22.99 |
| 20 GB | 30 days | $38.99 |
| 50 GB | 30 days | $117.99 |
Mexico plans run on Telcel and AT&T.
A normal trip (about a week)
Maps, WhatsApp, a few photos, some Uber rides. That is light use, and 3 GB is plenty for most people. It's $7.99 and lasts 30 days, so a long weekend and a later trip can share it. If you barely go online away from hotel wifi, 1 GB for 7 days at $3.99 is enough.
Heavy use
Streaming, video calls, or working from a beach cafe? Go 10 GB at $22.99 or 20 GB at $38.99, both valid 30 days. Staying a month or working remotely, 50 GB at $117.99 is there, but most people will never need it.
Daily unlimited plans
You get a set amount of high-speed data each day, then it slows down. You pay only for the days you use.
| Daily plan | Price per day |
|---|---|
| 500 MB high speed, then 512 Kbps | $2.99 |
| 1 GB high speed, then 1 Mbps | $3.99 |
| 2 GB high speed, then 512 Kbps | $4.99 |
| 2 GB high speed, then 1 Mbps | $6.99 |
| 3 GB high speed, then 1 Mbps | $9.99 |
| 10 GB high speed, then 384 Kbps | $17.99 |
Good for a single travel day or a short city stop. For more than a few days, the fixed-data plans cost less.
Multi-country plans
Also going to the US or Canada? A North America plan (3 countries) is 1 GB for 7 days at $3.99, or 500 MB for 1 day at $2.99. See our USA short trip guide.
Networks
Our Mexico plans use Telcel and AT&T. Telcel is generally the strongest outside the cities, including rural Yucatan and the road to the ruins. AT&T Mexico does fine in cities and main tourist areas.
Local apps that need data
- WhatsApp: hotels, tour guides, restaurants and drivers all message you there.
- Uber and DiDi: both work in big cities and tourist zones, but you need data to book and to see your driver.
- Offline maps: download them before you go. Signal drops inside cenotes and on remote jungle trails.
eSIM vs local SIM
A local SIM means finding a shop, showing your passport and swapping your home SIM out. An eSIM you install at home, switch on when you land, and keep your usual number for WhatsApp calls and bank codes. We think that's easier, so that's what we sell.
Which one to pick
- Weekend or one week, light use: 3 GB, $7.99.
- Very light, hotel wifi mostly: 1 GB, $3.99.
- Two weeks with lots of maps and video: 10 GB, $22.99.
- Remote work or a long stay: 20 GB, $38.99.
- One travel day only: daily plan from $2.99.
What to check before you buy
- Your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Look in your phone's settings.
- Install the eSIM at home on wifi, but turn it on only when you land.
- Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line.
- Refunds are available within 7 days if the eSIM has not been activated.
