Before you land
- Trains. Renfe and other operators have apps for tickets and platform changes. Digital tickets need data or a saved copy.
- Maps and rides. Google Maps works well for walking and transit. Taxi and ride apps need data to book and track.
- WhatsApp. The default way to reach hosts, restaurants and tour guides. Set it up at home.
- WiFi. Hotels and cafes have WiFi, but it drops once you leave. Mobile data keeps maps and tickets working between stops.
- Phone support. You need an eSIM-capable phone that is carrier-unlocked. The quickest check is Settings, then look for “Add eSIM”.
